15. February was the exhibition at the City Museum Melitta Schnarrenberger it opens endetam 5th April.
A native of upper-class conditions Melitta Schnarrenberger studied the late 20s at the Art Academy in Karlsruhe. In 1930 she married Professor William Schnarrenberger and gave up her artistic career. Only in the late 1970s, she turned again to painting.

During this time, a variety of still lifes,and landscapes portraits, the "distinguished vigorous brushwork, fresh, intense colors, dynamics and spontaneity" by one, said curator Christina Klittich. In her still-life painter had highlighted the simple, unspectacular everyday items - pillows, chairs, tools - and made it the central motif. "The images live from the contrast between movement and rigidity," continues the curator. Particularly impressive are the self-portraits by Melissa Schnarrenberger, all of which attracted attention by "a dark color, pessimism and loneliness." In addition, the artist has also painted people of their immediate environment - and sometimes in very intense colors, "said Klittich. "In Melitta landscape portraits, nature throws a flood of colors." The politically committed artist who lived from 1938 until her death in Lenzkirch, has many "Black Forest pictures" painted.
